Frequently Asked Questions

Are dehydrated pet treats safe for my pet?

Dehydrated treats are considered safe for dogs to eat as any present bones and dehydrated meats will crumble when chewed, not splinter as cooked and some raw bones can. However we always recommend you exercise caution, that your furry friend is supervised when they consume dehydrated treats, or any treat for that matter. Here’s why dehydrated treats are considered safe:

  1. Low Moisture Content: Bacteria and pathogens like Salmonella and E. coli need moisture to grow. By removing water, dehydration limits microbial activity and spoilage.
  2. Natural Preservation: Dehydration is a non-chemical method, making it a cleaner and often more digestible alternative to heavily processed treats.
  3. Retains Nutrients: Compared to cooking at high heat, dehydration preserves more of the original vitamins, minerals, and enzymes in the ingredients.
  4. Limited Ingredients: Many dehydrated treats are made with single ingredients (e.g., chicken, kangaroo), which reduces the risk of food sensitivities or allergic reactions.
  5. Digestibility: Dehydrated treats are often easier for dogs to chew and digest than raw or over-processed options. Dehydrated bones tend to crumble when chewed and broken down- as opposed to splintering which can be common in cooked and even raw bones. The splintering of bones comes with an increased risk of choking as well as proving dangerous for obstructive digestive health.

What long lasting treats do you have for a large dog?

We highly recommend our cow hooves with peanut butter and dehydrated kangaroo mince, bully sticks, goat horns, kangaroo tails, kangaroo lumbar, kangaroo bones and large roo ribs.

What treats do you have that would suit a smaller dog?

Almost all of our treats are suitable for our little canine friends, from chicken necks through to beef trachea moo tubes. If you are looking for a longer lasting treat, we would recommend our shorter roo tails or roo tail splits, pig trotters, shark cartilage, bully sticks and goat horns.

How should I store my treats and how long do they last?

We recommend you store your treats in a dry location, out of direct sunlight- where temperatures remain suitable for food storage. Below 28c.  Dehydrated treats will keep for 12 months.
